Indie Novel Copy Editing and Proofing
It’s all in the details…
Let your work be judged on its merits – your own creativity, style and imagination. Too many independently published novels do not get enough attention in the proofing and editing department, making them seem less polished and professional than novels produced by major publishers.
Qualifications and Experience
Writer and editor for eight years – 2007 Communication Studies degree, experience in journalism, marketing and editing.
If you are looking for a friendly, caring editor, then give me a try. I want you to succeed!
Electronic submission and delivery; edited with track changes in Microsoft Word. I will be available by phone upon acceptance of the commission, to discuss expectations; also at the time of delivery, to discuss any changes in more detail.
Contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fees and Payment
Proofreading: .50¢ per double spaced page (maximum 325 words).
Copy Editing: $1 per single spaced page (maximum 325 words). Any copy editing after the original job is completed is also $1 per page.
Payment is through PayPal. You do not have to have an account, and can use credit and debit cards with PayPal.
I am usually already working on an assignment so, for a typical novel of 60,000 to 80,000 words, delivery time will be four to six weeks after the current job is completed.
Editing does not mean re-writing. Suggestions will be made for clarity, sentence structure, and consistency but not for plot and character development.
Editing of the first 1,000 words is free. This will give you a chance to observe my editing style and decide if it is right for you.
It is strongly recommended that you proofread and edit your own work as much as possible before sending it to be copy edited. This will give you the most for your money, since proofing and editing should be done after every rewrite.
